Baltzar and his troop finally manage to reach the headquarters of the Weiβen army. They are welcomed as heroes by the parliamentarians of Baselland who heard of their exploits. It is in the middle of the trenches, during the siege of a Holbaek fortress, that Baltzar meets a young journalist from Weiβen, Annelise, who will make incredible revelations to him.
