Captain America is a comic book superhero, created by artist Jack Kirby and screenwriter Joe Simon. Evolving in the Marvel universe of the Marvel Comics company, the character appears for the first time in the comic book Captain America Comics #1 from December 1940.
This superhero, embodying American patriotism, has been emblematic of America since the start of the Second World War, serving as the standard bearer of its values and being seen as a defender of the free world against tyrannies, notably the regime.
